Workplace injuries are no joke. One minute everything is fine, and the next you’re off work for a period of time and your world is turned upside down with the pain of the injury and the lost income from time off work.

If you have been injured in the workplace, you may be entitled to claim workers’ compensation benefits including weekly payments, medical, hospital and vocational rehabilitation costs.

You are able to make a claim for workers’ compensation whether you have needed time off work or not.

If you have been injured in a work accident, follow these four steps to make a claim for workers’ compensation benefits:

  1. Report the injury (verbally and in writing) to your employer.
  2. Seek medical attention and visit a doctor of your choice as soon as possible and obtain a First Medical Certificate. Make a copy of this certificate for yourself and give the original certificate to your employer.
  3. Complete a Workers’ Compensation Claim Form 2B. Make a copy for yourself and give the original copy to your employer.
  4. Seek legal advice <insert link to website> to avoid any delays in your claim and to ensure you receive your full compensation entitlements.
